Azden FMX-22 Portable Field Mixer

The Azden FMX-22 Portable Field Mixer is a compact and versatile audio mixer designed for use in field recording, filmmaking, broadcasting, and other professional audio applications. The FMX-22 is designed to be lightweight and portable, making it easy to carry and use in various outdoor and on-location recording situations. Its compact size allows for easy integration into existing audio setups or camera rigs. The FMX-22 features two independent input channels, each with its own controls for adjusting input levels, panning, and monitoring. This allows for mixing and balancing the levels of two separate audio sources simultaneously. Each input channel typically includes both XLR and 1/4-inch (6.3mm) TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) combo jacks, providing compatibility with a wide range of microphones, line-level sources, and other audio equipment. Phantom power (+48V) is available for condenser microphones. The mixer is equipped with low-noise microphone preamplifiers, which provide clean and transparent amplification of microphone signals while minimizing unwanted noise and distortion. The FMX-22 offers multiple monitoring options, including headphone monitoring with a dedicated 1/4-inch (6.3mm) headphone output and individual channel monitoring via built-in peak meters and headphone level controls. A built-in limiter helps prevent clipping and distortion by automatically attenuating excessively loud audio signals, ensuring clean and undistorted recordings even in challenging recording environments. The mixer provides both balanced stereo XLR and unbalanced stereo 1/8-inch (3.5mm) TRS outputs, allowing for direct connection to cameras, recorders, or other audio recording devices. The FMX-22 can be powered using either internal batteries (typically AA batteries) or an external DC power source, providing flexibility for extended recording sessions or when AC power is not readily available. The mixer is typically constructed with a durable metal chassis, ensuring reliability and longevity even in demanding field recording environments. Depending on the manufacturer, optional accessories such as carrying cases, mounting brackets, and external power adapters may be available to enhance the functionality and usability of the mixer.
